Couple enjoys traveling

(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights couple Len Hayles and Voncille Peters, who have been married for four years.)
Q: When and where were you born?
Voncille: I was born in Monroe County on Nov. 22, 1932.
Len: I was also born in Monroe County on June 27, 1931.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Voncille: I had one brother who passed away.
Len: I have one each who are living.
Q: Where did you attend school?
Voncille: J.U. Blacksher
Len: Same. We graduated together in 1950.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
Voncille: When we first got married we went on a cruise to Mexico. Since then we have a mobile home and have been everywhere. I like to fish and he’s not crazy about it, but he’ll take me to Isaac Creek sometimes. I’ve also been to Japan.
Len: We’ve been to North Carolina, Washington, D.C. and all kinds of parks.
Q: Where did you work?
Voncille: The first job I had was in Mobile at a loan office. I worked at Vredenburg Sawmill in the office and then my last job I had was at Vanity Fair in Monroeville. I retired from there.
I also used to deliver homemade meals.
Len: I had four years in the United States Marine Corps and then I worked at Chemstrand in Pensacola and Brookley Field in Mobile. I retired from Ciba-Geigy in McIntosh.
Q: Where have you lived?
Voncille: Uriah, Mobile, Charleston, S.C., Japan, Idaho, Orlando, Fla. and then back here.
Len: Monroe County in Eliska, Mobile, Little River, Chickasaw and back to Uriah.
Q: Do you have children?
Voncille: I have three children, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren and expecting another in September.
Len: I have two children and four grandchildren.
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
Voncille: Yardwork. And we’ve booked another cruise for January.
Len: I keep her straight.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
Both: “Big Brother”
Q: Where do you attend church?
Both: Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
Both: Stay active.
