RABUN – Mr. Lonnie Johnson, 75, passed away on Friday, Sept. 5 at the William F. Green Veteran's Home in Bay Minette.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Cross Roads, a resident of Rabun for the past four years, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired employee from International Paper after 28 years, owner of Alonzo's In and Out Tire Service in Clanton and attended New Testament Church.
Survivors include, his wife, Sarah Johnson; two sons, Richard Johnson and Johnny Johnson, both of White House Fork; his daughter, Sondra Chapman of Cross Roads; four stepsons, Tracey Stewart, Michael Stewart and Marcus Stewart, all of Rabun and Jeffery Stewart of Dyas; a stepdaughter, Wanda Holman of Perdido; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; three brothers, Lester Johnson of Lafayettte, La., Carl Johnson of Mobile and Lorenzo Johnson of Cross Roads and his sister, Maxine Bown of Cross Roads.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at the New Testament Church in Rabun with Sister Marie Jordon and Bro. Terry McNeil officiating.
Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 7 from 5 p.m. until funeral time at the New Testament Church.
Pallbearers will be Dale Johnson, Wayne Hadley, Tommy Geek, Ernie Anderson, Richard Anderson and David Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Wilson and Bud Stewart.
