The Escambia Academy Cougars host the third-ranked Southern Academy Cougars Friday at Bachelor Field and are still in search of their first victory of the 2008 season.
The Cougars (0-3) have slowly improved each week of the season and are looking to put something in the win column.
Head coach Heath Gibson said that the Cougars need to continue playing the way they did last week against Autauga.
Southern Academy (2-0) has started the season just as well as they ended the last season.
Head coach Shawn Bonds said he does not think his team is where he wants it to be and added that he does not know what to expect from EA.
Southern has a powerful offense and defense and the defense has different looks for the offenses they face, according to Gibson.
Gibson said the Cougars are preparing for anything that Southern might throw at them.
He added that it will be a physical game and he wants to have his team ready for a fight.
This is the first region game for EA and the second for Southern, but this early region match up has both teams jockeying for position.
Bonds said he has a lot of respect for coach Gibson and the program he runs.
He added that he knows Gibson will have the Cougars ready for the game because it is in the region.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Escambia Academy.
