The Northview Lady Chiefs volleyball team fell to Pensacola Catholic Thursday night losing in three straight games.
The Lady Chiefs lost 20-25, 19-25 and 20-25 to the Lady Warriors, which brings their record to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in district play.
Head coach Betty Heaton said the team had a good outing against PCHS, but made errors that held them back.
Senior Brittney Thompson with the help of sophomore Shawna Montgomery led a strong team effort. Thompson put up 24 digs, 4 blocks and three kills in the games against Catholic, while Montgomery showed her talents with 23 digs, four kills, one block and one ace.
The close games were a team effort, according to Heaton. Juniors Caitlin Hall and Angela Rodriguez each put forth their best efforts, with Hall recording eight assists, five digs, two aces and one block and Rodriguez notching five kills, four digs and one assist. .
Heaton said she was proud of the amount of teamwork she witnessed and how hard the team tried.
The Lady Chiefs next games will be this weekend at the Tate Varsity tournaments at Tate High School.
Heaton said to be ready for this tournament the Lady Chiefs need to work hard in practice and crucial skills.
Lady Chiefs defeat Blue Devils
The Northview Lady Chiefs defeated the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils Tuesday in three out of four games to pick up their sixth victory of the season.
The Lady Chiefs (6-5, 1-2) beat the Blue Devils 25-22, 25-22 and 25-16, while losing the third game 26-28.
Head coach Betty Heaton said the win shows just how much the team has improved since the beginning of the season.
Sophomore Shawna Montgomery led the winning effort for the Lady Chiefs by posting five aees. She added to her aces with four kills and two digs.
Senior Brittney Thompson led the Lady Chiefs in kills with eight, while also recording one ace and one dig.
Junior Caitlin Hall recorded four aces and 17 assists.
The Lady Chiefs are coming into the final month of the season and have work to do before thinking about playoffs, according to Heaton.
Heaton said the Lady Chiefs need to develop more communication as a team before they can make that step.
