Early weather forecasts predict cool, sunny conditions for this Saturday’s 17th annual Williams Station Day.
Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce executive director Sheryl Vickery was excited to hear the weather forecast after rumors of rain began circulating.
According to local weather models, festival goers should wake to a crisp 44 degrees Saturday morning with temperatures topping out at 72 degrees by midday. The cooler weather is predicted to follow a storm front forecasted to soak Atmore Thursday and Friday.
As for final preparations for the annual event, Vickery said they are wrapping up.
Williams Station Day, a regional festival, is packed with venues that will offer a look into Atmore’s past as well as its future. It will be held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on historic Pensacola Avenue and feature arts and crafts, live music from a variety of musicians, a pumpkin painting and carving contest, festival games and rides, great food and much, much more.
Musicians will take center stage on the main stage located in front of the Atmore Area YMCA and Community Center. Blues singers Jamey and Jeremy Crisler of the Alabama Blues Brothers will headline the main stage. Other musicians include Atmore’s own Lana Langford, Roy Harper, Atmore’s own Denean Workman, Creek Entertainment Center’s 2008 Star Search winner Dew Pendleton, Acoustic Soul sponsored by The Atmore Advance and Riverboat John.
Joseph Trimble and Delores “The Barefooted Poet” Gibson will be the featured storytellers at the storytelling tent sponsored by Alabama Power and Alto Products.
Williams Station Day will also include a children’s arts and crafts village, model train show, train rides around town, a Show and Shine Car Show and much more.
