Trick-or-Treating set for Friday in Atmore

Atmore residents have several Halloween events to choose from this year.
All events will be held on Friday, Oct. 31. Trick-or-Treat hours have been set from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. by the City of Atmore.
Below is a list of events in the area:
Atmore Advance
The Atmore Advance will be taking children’s costume pictures from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in front of the Advance's office located at 301 S. Main Street. All photos will be published in the Nov. 5 Advance at no charge. Parents can purchase 5×7 prints for $5 with all proceeds benefiting Relay for Life. All photos have to be prepaid.
All entries for the coloring contest are due by noon Friday. Winners of the contest will be on display that night.
Candy will also be given out.
First Baptist Church
Trunk-or-Treat will begin at 6 p.m. Friday evening at First Baptist Church Atmore. All children are invited to attend.
Hainje's Furniture
Hainje’s Furniture will be taking pictures of children in Halloween costumes free of charge and showcasing them in the front window of the store throughout the month of November. Photos will be taken from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Candy will be given out.
Atmore Nursing Care Center
The Atmore Nursing Care Center is hosting trick-or-treating from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
Women of Distinction
Women of Distinction will be sponsoring a Trunk-A-Treat from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Escambia County Middle School. Call Stephanie Walker at 577-1339 or Shinora Redmond 510-6684 to participate or if you have questions.
McCullough Christian Center
McCullough Christian Center is hosting a trunk-or-treat from 6 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. Hotdogs, nachos, drinks and desserts will be served. Thee will be rock-climbing, a jumping bouncing house, gospel singing and lots of games. Everything is free.
St. Robert's Fall Festival
St. Robert’s Annual Fall Festival will be both Friday and Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. Barbecue Boston butt pork roast and sandwiches will be sold, as well as smoked turkey breast, baked goods and handi-crafts.
Whistle Stop Grill
Michael (Twig) and Kristen Branch are having a Halloween Costume Reception from 8 p.m. – until at Whistle Stop Grill in celebration of their marriage. There will be a costume contest at midnight. The first place winner will receive $100 cash and $100 restaurant tab. P.O.M. (formerly Big Yella Mama) will perform.
Pintoli's Italian Caf/
Pintoli’s Italian Caf/ is hosting a party beginning at 10 p.m. There is no charge for admission and costumes are preferred.
Halloween Safety
For many children, autumn events such as Halloween and Harvest Day are fun times to dress up in costumes, go trick-or-treating, attend parties and eat yummy treats. These events are also opportunities to provide nutritious snacks, get physical activity, and focus on safety.
The health department joins the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in making these recommendations to help make the festivities fun and safe for trick-or-treaters and party guests.
