In a brief meeting Monday afternoon, the Atmore City Council agreed to accept a $381,388 Community Development Block Grant to be used to upgrade dilapidated, 75-year-old sewer lines.
The improvements will be made in the area of Liberty and Mobile streets and will benefit more than 1,400 residents, according to Gov. Bob Riley’s office.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant.
