Hurley DeLaFosse enjoys traveling, watching westerns

(This week The Atmore Advance visited 64-year-old Hurley DeLaFosse following the Veterans Day program in Perdido.)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born in Brewton on Oct. 8, 1944.
Q: Who were your parents?
A: Linton DeLaFosse and Beauress DeLaFosse
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: I had one brother, Gene, who died.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: I attended school in Bay Minette and Virginia.
Q: Have you done a lot of traveling?
A: Yes, I’ve been all over. My favorite place to travel to was Flagstaff, Ariz. because of the weather and it’s an old western town. When I was out there I saw Elvis, he was making the movie “Stay Away, Joe.” I’m going back there next year and going to New Mexico, Nevada and Arizona.
Q: Where did you work?
A: I was a receiving clerk at Dental EZ for 31 years.
Q: Where have you lived?
A: All over the country.
Q: What do you like most about this area?
A: It’s quiet and small.
Q: Did you ever marry? If so, what is your spouse’s name?
A: Yes, Arlene and I were married Oct. 26, 1991.
Q: How did you and your spouse meet?
A: My friend Larry Jackson set us up.
Q: Do you have any children?
A: I have two sons, Anthony “Tunk” DeLaFosse and Shannon DeLaFosse and three daughters, Cindy Butler, Regina Wood and Becky Brown.
Q: Do you have any grandchildren?
A: I have seven, five boys and two girls.
Q:Where do you attend church?
A: First Baptist Atmore.
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: Taking care of grandyoungins, going on trips, going to Legion meetings, going to church and visiting the nursing home.
Q: What do you like to watch on television?
A: I watch old westerns, documentaries, the National Geographic channel and the History channel.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Carrot cake
Q: What is your favorite type of music?
A: I like all kinds,opera, country, contemporary, gospel, anything but hard rock.
Q. What was one of the happiest times in your life?
A: When my children and grandchildren were born.
Q: What advice would you give people on living a long life?
A: Eat proper food and exercise
