Flomaton Speedway is hosting its annual Gulf Coast Dirt Track Championships this weekend in a two-night show.
The show begins Friday night with qualifying and heat races beginning at 8 p.m. Also on Friday night there is a fireworks show being put on by Alabama Fireworks of Flomaton.
Speedway promoter NASCAR Ron said this show is the biggest of the season and should bring a lot of fun and excitement.
Admission to the show is a little higher than usual due to the importance of the event.
NASCAR Ron said he hopes everyone will come out for both nights of racing. He added that to save money anyone wanting to come Friday and Saturday should invest their money in a two-day pass.
Six classes of cars are racing on each night, with the crate late models carrying the highest payout. The other models running include, street stocks, bombers, stingers, hobbies and modifieds.
The entry fee for the crate late models is $200, with a payout of $5,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place, $800 for third, $700 for fourth and $600 for fifth.
The payout for the street stock winner is $1,500, the bomber winner receives $1,000 and the first place stinger driver winning $500.
Also in attendance will be the U.S. Marines.
NASCAR Ron said the Marines will be on site collecting money and gifts for Toys for Tots.
T-shirts from the event will be available on Friday and Saturday night, and are being sold by Arizona T-shirt Company.
NASCAR Ron said Flomaton Speedway would like to thank Wallace Paint &Body for all of the help they give.
Racing begins Friday night at 8 p.m., and 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
