Joyce Cassity Nichols

ATMORE - Joyce Cassity Nichols, 75, a lifelong resident of Atmore, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at her residence.
Mrs. Nichols, born in Clarke County on March 13, 1933 to the late Rufus and Nettie Quill Day Cassity, was a co-owner of the Nichols Dept. Clothing Store for 45 years.
Her parents and her brother, Rufus Julian “SamJack” Cassity, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, I.G. Nichols Jr.; one son, Randy Nichols and wife, Melissa, all of Atmore; one daughter, Scarlet Nichols Strom and husband, Greg, of Monroeville and four grandchildren, Gordon Nichols, Walton Nichols, Sterling Strom and Anna Catherine Strom.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
Active pallbearers were, Kenneth Barnett, James Barnett, Karl Robinson, Foster Anderson, Bobby Bishop, Bibb Mims, Brent Whitaker, Floyd Adams, Bill Chapman, James Burkett and Gordon Nichols.
Family received friends from 2 p.m. until service time on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
