PENSACOLA, Fla. - Mother Lillie Mae North passed into eternal life Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. She was born on April 20, 1939 in Camden to the late Mr. Ed Lee and Elnora Jackson.
She was a long term resident of Walnut Hill and was residing in Pensacola since early 2008. On Feb. 20, 1964 she was married to Mr. Tillman North, Sr. She was the mother of seven children and worked for many years to make sure her family was provided for.
Mother North’s first walk with the Lord was when she became a member of the New Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Walnut Hill where Rev. Willie White is the pastor. In the late 1990’s she became a member of the Walnut Hill Church of God in Christ where bishop John D. Young was the pastor and in 2007 she moved her membership to Empowerment Tabernacle in Atmore where he son elder Darryl North is the pastor. There, she served as an usher.
She was preceded in death by her son, Clarence Jackson; grandson, Travis Shawn Jackson; her sister, May Lee Notts and brothers, Sonny Jackson, Willie James Jackson and Eddie Jackson.
She leaves to uplift and cherish her memory her husband, Mr. Tillman North, Sr.; her children, Jerry Jackson, Charles Jackson, Tillman (Sonja) North, Jr. and Darryl (Kim) North all of Atmore, Marcine Jackson and Juanita (Rodney) Portis both of Pensacola; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters, Lola (Jake) Inker of Walnut Hill, Ann Lou (Bobby) Wiggins and Irish Jean (Charles) Walker both of Atmore; her brothers, Edward (Bessie) Jackson of Pensacola, Larry (Ann) Jackson of Monroeville and Leon Jackson of Atmore; and uncle, Calvin Howard of Atmore; her sister-in-laws, Zora Mae North of Walnut Hill, Jonnie Mae (John) McCants of Cantonment, Joyce North of Atmore and Helen North of La.; her brother-in-laws, Willie (Kerry) North of Atmore and Robert Lee North of Calif. She will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at Walnut Hill Church of God in Christ with bishop John D. Young officiating. Interment was held at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore. Pallbearers were her sons and grandsons and flower girls were her granddaughters.
Final arrangements were entrusted to Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Atmore.
