Atmore, Brewton developers given relief

Escambia County commissioners agreed to give two developers some relief on land development regulations put into place last year by the county.
Developers making the request are Chester Lamb for Stokely Plantation near Atmore and Don Lucas for Juniper Creek Fishing Village in Brewton.
The pair has asked the commission to allow them to continue work under regulations in force when their work began on their respective developments.
Escambia County Engineer Bill Bridges said he is confident granting the request for leniency by the developers is justified.
Regulations currently in place under development guidelines for the county were approved in June 2007, Bridges said.
Both developers’ plans had been approved by the county and work had begun well before the new regulations were put into place.
After discussion with the commission, a unanimous decision was made to grant the request of the developers to continue their projects under the previous set of regulations in place with the engineer’s office.
