Northview Chiefs senior quarterback and defensive back Jay Jackson’s hardwork and leadership has paid off in the form of an invitation to the Pensacola Sports Association’s fifth annual High School All-Star game in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Chiefs head coach Cody Keene said he selected Jackson, because of the effort he put forth for his team this season.
Jackson has played varsity football for the Chiefs for four years and played three of those years at safety. He also played offense and had more of a role offensively this season.
Jackson is listed a defensive back on the official PSA roster and will play safety this weekend. This is a position he is accustomed to on defense, as he played it his first three years at Northview.
Jackson said he is excited about playing in the PSA All-Star game, and added that he felt he could get invited, but did not his coach chose who went to the game.
Jackson hopes playing in the game helps him get notice from college recruiters.
He said he would like to continue his football career after he graduates from Northview.
Jackson began practices for the All-Star game yesterday and continues those practices today and Thursday, with the game taking place Saturday at 5 p.m. at Fort Walton Beach High School.
