Sara Wiggins loves to laugh

(This week The Atmore Advance visited with 62-year-old Sara Wiggins while working at the Best Western.)
Q: Where are you from and when were you born?
A: Frisco City. Nov. 11, 1946.
Q: How did you end up here at the Best Western?
A: I worked at Medline for 13 years and it closed and went overseas, so then I went to Jeff Davis for computer courses for two years. Then I got this job.
Q: Why did you take computer courses? What did you think of them?
A: I loved it. I learned how to turn a computer on and off! It’s what the world has gone to.
Q: Who is your husband? How did you meet?
A: Alton. We’ve been married 47 years. We met at the skating rink in Frisco City.
Q: What are some of the things you like best about your husband?
A: He’s very helpful. If he see something that needs to be done, whether it’s the washing or fixing something, he’ll do it. He’s an all around great guy.
Q: Do you have children?
A: I have two sons, Rance and Timmy, and three grandchildren. I had three other grandchildren too, but they died in a car accident 11 years ago.
Q: What do you like the most about your job?
A: I like the people I work with, and I get to meet a lot of different people.
Q: What does your family do for Christmas?
A: We all go to my mother’s house. I have three brothers and their extended families come.
Q: Does your family have any Christmas traditions?
A: We give gag gifts. My brother Sonny gave me a pair of boots that look like big foot’s feet, and I got him back by giving him a walking stick and prune juice for his 50th birthday.
Q: Where have you traveled to?
A: I’ve been to D.C.; Norfolk,Va.; California and Chicago to see my son (Rance) when he was in the Navy. For his graduation my mom and Rance’s wife Debra, she was his fiancee then, went from Monroeville to Chicago on a bus. It took us 22 hours. We had so much luggage we’d always get off the bus last and then tell the driver that all the bags were Debra’s, and we were her maids. We had a good time.
Q: What is one of the happiest times in your life?
A: When each of my grandchildren were born.
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: Wonderword and crosswords. I love to read. My favorite Christian author is Max Lucado.
Q: Where is somewhere you’ve never traveled to but would like to go? Why?
A: Hawaii. I’d like to see the people and the culture. It all seems so laid back.
Q: What do you want for Christmas?
A: Nothing especially, because I have so many blessings from the Lord. The greatest gift He’s given me is my health. I had cancer, and I’ve been cancer free for three years this coming March.
Q: What’s the most important thing in your life?
A: My religion and family.
