For the second time in the last four days, the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars fell victim to the Meadowview Lady Trojans after a 51-43 loss in Canoe Monday night.
The Lady Cougars (4-9, 2-4) fell to the Lady Trojans last Friday 47-44 at Meadowview.
In the first half, the teams stayed fairly even with both teams winning a quarter.
The Lady Trojans jumped out to a quick advantage over the Academy scoring 11 points and only allowing the Lady Cougars to score eight.
The second period was all Lady Cougars as they put up 13 points and only gave up nine to Meadowview. At halftime, EA controlled the game 21-20.
Lady Cougars head coach Heath Gibson said his players were matched up well with the players from Meadowview.
After halftime, the Lady Cougars continued to lead the game, but the Lady Trojans would come crawling back.
In the third quarter, the Lady Cougars outscored Meadowview 12-10 and extended their lead 33-30 heading into the fourth.
The wheels fell off for the Lady Cougars in the final quarter. Meadowview fought off the three-point deficit and dominated the fourth period. The Lady Trojans outscored EA 19-10 and picked up the comeback win 51-43.
Gibson said his team played well during the game, but lacked consistency.
Two seniors paced the Lady Cougars in the loss.
Seniors Andrea Nall and Malori McGhee put on their highest point totals of the season. Nall scored 12 points, while pulling down two rebounds and recording a steal. McGhee added 11 points for the Lady Cougars and grabbed three steals and one assist.
Sophomore KayLeigh Miller chipped in nine points, while pulling in four steals, one assist and one a rebound in the loss.
Sophomore Lady Cougars Amber Huskey and Taylor Helton did damage on the boards. Huskey pulled down 14 rebounds, while scoring five points, blocking four shots, nabbing four steals and passing out two assists. Helton fought her way to eight rebounds with six points, two assists, two steals and two blocks also on her stat sheet.

Sophomore Amber Huskey and senior Sara Beth Davis dominated the boards for the Lady Cougars of Canoe as they defeated the Southern Academy Lady Cougars 41-33 on Saturday.
Huskey finished the game with 14 rebounds, while scoring eight points, passing out three assists and nabbing two steals.
Davis added 14 rebounds and six points in the victory.
The EA Lady Cougars started the game slow, but did not let Southern hold them down.
In the first quarter, the visiting Lady Cougars pulled ahead early and jumped out to a 12-8 lead.
The second quarter turned a corner for the Lady Cougars of Escambia Academy. They turned the game around and outscored Southern 9-6, but still trailed 18-17 at halftime.
Lady Cougars head coach Heath Gibson said the first half of the game was much better than previous games.
After halftime, the Lady Cougars took the lead and control of the game.
In the third quarter, EA outscored the Southern Lady Cougars 12-7 and grabbed the lead before the final quarter started.
The hosting Lady Cougars took the momentum they found and pushed into the fourth quarter. EA outscored Southern 12-8 and picked up their fourth win of the season.
Gibson said this was the best performance by his team all season.
Lady Cougars’ seniors Andrea Nall and Malori McGhee chipped in their statistics that helped EA secure a win. Nall scored nine points, while pulling down three rebounds and recording one steal and one assist. McGhee added four points, three rebounds, one steal and an assist.
Sophomores Taylor Helton and KayLeigh Miller each posted six points in the win. Helton pulled down 11 rebounds, served out three assists, grabbed three steals and blocked a shot.

Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars dropped an area game 47-44 to the Meadowview Lady Trojans on Friday night.
The Lady Cougars dropped the game on the road and never had a grasp on the momentum.
In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans poured in 18 points, while the visiting Lady Cougars could only tally 12 on the scoreboard.
The second period was a low scoring affair with neither team adding more than nine points. Meadowview chipped in nine to make their first half total 27, and the Lady Cougars scored just seven to give them 19.
Lady Cougars head coach Heath Gibson said his team struggled early in the game to stop Meadoview.
In the second half, the Lady Cougars came out with a sense of urgency.
They outscored the Lady Trojans 11-9 in the third period to cut the lead to six points as the fourth quarter began.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Cougars continued to outlast the Lady Trojans and scored 14 points to win the period, but Meadowview added 11 points, which was still enough to secure the win.
Gibson said the second half was much better than the first half for his team.
Sophomores Amber Huskey and KayLeigh Miller led the Lady Cougars with 12 points apiece. Huskey led the team with eight rebounds and also recorded four assists, two steals and two blocks. Miller paced the team in assists with five and also posted four steals and tow rebounds.
Lady Cougars sophomore Taylor Helton chipped in seven points, eight rebounds and one block in the loss.
Senior Malori McGhee added six points, four steals, three rebounds and one assist for EA.
Sophomore Kristen Mathews scored five points, while senior Andrea Nall added two. Mathews also had a rebound, and Nall pulled down four boards and had two assists and one steal.
