ATMORE - Ms. Resa A. Johnson-Braxton, 65, of Spotsylvania, Va. formerly of Atmore died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va.
Ms. Braxton was a native of Monroe County and had lived in Atmore for many years. She was a graduate of Escambia County Training School in 1962 and had worked at John Hopkins hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Nettles.
She is survived by her daughter, Yolonda A. Barbes of Spotsylvania, Va.; her mother, Annie Pearl Nettles of Atmore; two sisters, Elizabeth (Leroy) Mobley and Dorothy E. Nettles of Atmore; one brother, John Thomas (Cynthia) Nettles of Mobile and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Atmore with the Rev. Kenneth Toney, eulogist and the Rev. Lucious Fair, pastor. Interment will be held in Stallworth cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC directing.
