Bandits finish 2-1 in Frozen Rope Bash 3

The South Alabama Bandits finished 2-1 in the Frozen Rope Bash 3 in Pascagoula, Miss. on Saturday and Sunday.
The Bandits finished the tournament on Sunday with a 7-2 defeat to the Aqua Sox.
The Bandits scoring came in the first inning via Tristan McAnally and Nate Smith.
McAnally and Nate Smith started the game with walks and were advanced by Chad Broussard’s single. McAnally and Nate Smith each finished the game 0-for-1 with a walk and runs scored. Broussard went 1-for-2 in the loss.
The Bandits finished the game with three hits, five strikeouts and six walks.
The Bandits’ hits came from Chad Broussard, Tyler Cameron and Tanner Smith.
Cameron and Tanner Smith finished the game a combined 2-for-4 with two singles.

Rebels 1
Atmore’s South Alabama Bandits continued their winning ways on Saturday as they won their second game 12-1 over the Rebels in the Frozen Rope Bash 3 in Pascagoula, Miss.
The Bandits (2-0) started the game on fire as three of their first six batters reached base and scored.
Coby Smith led off the game with a single and advanced to second after Tristan McAnally’s sacrifice fly. Smith finished the game 2-for-2 with two singles, two runs scored and a walk. McAnally finished the game 1-for-1 with a single , a run scored and a walk.
Chad Broussard followed up McAnally with a single and was advanced by Tanner Smith’s single two batters later. Broussard ended the game 3-for-3 with three singles and a run scored, while Tanner Smith finished the game 1-for-2 with a single and run scored.
The Rebels scored their lone run in the top of the second after Sidney was walked and then advanced around the base path by three more walks.
In the bottom of the third inning the Bandits continued to dominate the Rebels and scored three more runs.
Shawn White started the hitting and scoring with a single that was followed up by Coby Smith’s single and McAnally’s base-on-balls. White finished the game 1-for-1 with a single, walk and two runs scored.
The final innning proved to be the nail in the coffin as the Bandits added six more runs to win the game.
Trey McGhee started the inning with a walk, and he was followed up with Kyle Mitchell being hit by a pitch and Nate Smith knocking a single.
McGhee finished 0-for-1 with a run scored, Mitchell ended the game 1-for-1 with a single and a run scored. Nate Smith went 1-for-2 with a single and a run scored.
Brandon Broussard, White and Coby Smith all continued the scoring as all three walked and were advanced by McAnally and Chad Broussard.

Hawks 3
The Bandits (1-0) played in their first tournament of 2009 under the coaching of head coach Tim McAnally.
In their first game of the tournament, the Bandits defeated the Hancock Hawks 7-3.
The Bandits started the game slow with their first three batters going down in the top half of the first inning. Coby Smith, Tristan McAnally and Chad Broussard all hit ground balls that put them out.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Hawks put their first two men on base, with Hunter Walton and Brenden Seal. Seal made it as far as third base, but ground outs by Jabe Hinton and Duncan Cornfoot ended the inning.
Austin Chastang was the first Bandit to reach base in the second inning via a walk. Chastang would go 0-for-3 in the win with a walk and a strikeout.
After Chastang reached base, Tanner Smith struck out, Trey McGhee walked, Kyle Mitchell went down swinging and Nate Smith reached base on balls. The final out of the inning was a fielders choice by Brandon Broussard.
Things did not get an easier for the Hawks in their half of the second inning as their first three batters of the inning were put out.
Tyler Cameron started the inning with a bang as he hit a single. Cameron finished the game 2-for-2 with two singles and two runs scored.
Shawn White was walked the next at-bat. White finished 0-for-0 with two walks and two runs scored.
Coby Smith kept things going as he knocked a double into the outfield. Smith went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored.
McAnally was hit on the next at-bat. He would hit 1-for-2 with a single and run scored in the game.
After two strikeouts threatened to leave Coby Smith and McAnally stranded Tanner Smith stepped up and hit a single that scored the two Bandits.
The third inning would be just as eventful for the Hawks as they scored two runs with Chase Fagan and Blayne Nord crossing the plate
The final Bandit runs came in the top of the fourth from Tyler Cameron and Shawn White after Coby Smith knocked them in with his double.
In the bottom of the fourth the scoring came to a close as the Hawks scored off of a homerun by Duncan Cornfoot.
