A two-car collision that occurred shortly before noon on Tuesday left one car rolled onto its roof and its driver and two passengers trapped inside.
According to witnesses, a Chevrolet Impala was headed west on Owens Street when after stopping at the stop sign, pulled out in front of a Mercury Grand Marquis traveling south on Presley Street.
The driver and passengers of the Impala were extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel and transported by ambulance to the hospital.
Oscar Matheny was in his car behind the Impala at the stop sign and said the Impala did make a complete stop, but failed to see the Grand Marquis.
Ronda Wood, the driver of the Impala, was visibly shaken after the accident, but walked away with no injuries. Wood did say the car pulled out in front of her, but her concern was for the people inside the car.
Janice Peterson is the owner of Just for Kids located on the corner of the two streets where the accident happened and said she heard it occur.
Responders to the accident include Atmore Ambulance, Kelley’s Ambulance, the Atmore Fire Department and Atmore Police Department.
A police report with the Impala’s driver’s and passengers’ names was not available before press time.
