The Lady Blue Devils of Escambia County made it halfway to 50 in Game 2 of their doubleheader against the Monroe County Tigers as they pounced on their rival and won 25-16 on Tuesday.
The Lady Blue Devils (6-4, 1-2) picked up the win behind a strong offensive effort from several players.
Escambia County head coach William Casaday said his team did a good job of hitting the ball.
Offensively, the Lady Blue Devils saw production throughout their order.
Norman not only picked up the win for her team, but also hit a home run. Norman hit 5-for-6 with the out of the park shot and four RBI.
Latesha Lee also went 5-for-6 in the win. She was the second of three Lady Devils to hit a home run and led the team with five RBI.
Raven Culliver and this week’s Getting to Know athlete Ashleigh Taylor both hit a solid 4-for-6 in the win. Culliver had three RBI, while Taylor hit a home run and had four RBI.
Catcher Brooke Bell hit 3-for-6 at the plate in the win and recorded two RBI.
Casaday said Bell and Taylor played great games for ECHS.
Other Blue Devils to record hits included Meneka Smith (3-for-6, 1 RBI) and Cha’Nae Lyles (3-for-4).

A slow start to a tough game held the Escambia County Lady Devils back as they fell to the Monroe County Lady Tigers 10-8 on Tuesday in Game 1 of a doubleheader.
The Lady Blue Devils (5-4, 1-2) had trouble early in the game against the Lady Tigers, but almost came back in the final inning.
Heading into the last inning ECHS was down 10-4, but the Lady Devils scored four runs to mount a small comeback losing by two.
ECHS head coach William Casaday said his team did not start producing offensively until it was too late.
The Lady Blue Devils were led by Michaela Norman and Latesha Lee. Norman hit 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, while Lee went 2-for-4 with a single RBI to her credit.
Starting pitcher Raven Culliver gave up 10 runs and struck out two Lady Tigers. At the plate, Culliver hit 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Brooke Bell and Ashleigh Taylor each hit 1-for-3 with Bell recording an RBI.
