Academy eliminated

Escambia Academy’s baseball season ended sooner than they had hoped over the weekend as they lost a three-game series to the Autauga Academy Generals in Prattville in the AISA state playoffs.
The Cougars lost the series with a 13-3 loss in Game 3 after winning the second game to tie the series at one.
In the final game, junior Jon Dean pitched five innings giving up six runs on five hits and nine walks. He also sent four Generals down on strikes.
Freshman James Dean came into relieve Jon Dean and pitched one inning giving up seven runs.
The Generals dominated the game beginning in the second inning when they took a 3-1 lead on the Cougars.
They capitalized on their lead in the following innings scoring one run in the third and nine runs in the fifth.
The Cougars scored their runs in the second, third and fifth innings. Dustin Brown, James Dean and Jeff Price scored EA’s three runs. Price recorded all three hits for the Academy going 3-for-3.

Escambia Academy tied their series against the Autauga Academy Generals at one when they defeated the Generals 8-5 in Prattville.
Senior Jeff Price picked up the win for the Cougars pitching seven innings giving up five runs on six hits and four walks. He also sent 12 Generals down on strikes.
Cameron McGhee led the Cougars in offense going 3-for-4 with three singles and scored two runs.

Autauga Academy squeaked by the Cougars of Canoe 1-0 in the first game of their playoff match up.
The Cougars lost the game in the final inning as the Generals leadoff batter made it around the base path after being walked.
Senior Nick Mills started the game for the Academy pitching a complete game giving up one run on four hits and seven walks. He also struck out nine Autauga batters.
Mills also led the Cougars at the plate going 2-for-2 ripping two singles in the third and fifth innings.
Other Cougars to record hits for the Cougars were Jared Hadley, Keaton Maher, Jon Dean and James Dean.
