Advance will be louder voice
Starting immediately, The Atmore Advance is going to become a stronger, louder voice in the community.
We are not going to hide from stories on subjects that might shed negative light on organizations or the city itself.
It is our duty as a newspaper to write about these subjects because the citizens of Atmore have a right to know.
In the past, we have been approached about keeping certain information out of print, both important and trivial, leaving the public unaware of what is going on in their community, both positive and negative.
We pledge to you that no longer will these things be brushed under the rug.
You, our readers, and all the citizens of Atmore, need to know what is going on in our city. You have a right to know if students are being caught with drugs at the high school, if jobs are being cut or if a new development is headed to town.
We are not doing this to be disrespectful to the residents or the officials that govern it, but to be a watchdog for our readers.
The employees of the Advance are all residents in this community. We all pay taxes, own homes and drive the same streets and all have vested interests in the welfare of our community.
We look forward to bothstrengthening and continuing our positive relationships in the community.
