Poarch’s St. Anna’s Episcopal church is making preparations to welcome the Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, the 26th presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, to town this Saturday.
Schori is visiting the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast at the request of the Rt. Rev. Philip Duncan, Diocesan Bishop and will visit several local churches during her trip.
Church member Lee “Lavan” Martin said the congregation is humbled and honored to receive Schori.
Schori will also be touring the Poarch Band of Creek Indian’s Tribal Complex.
Martin said the Episcopal influence on the Tribe’s beginnings is one of the deciding factors of why Schori is visiting St. Anna’s.
The community is invited to St. Anna’s for the prayer service and reception at 10:15 a.m.
