The results from Saturday's Poarch Band of Creek Indians' election for the offices of vice-chairman and two member-at-large positions have been challenged by Tribal council candidates Amy Bryan, Daniel Smilie, Peggy Rolin Couch, Douglas "Poncho" Kelley and also, by voter Chris Adams.
The group cites several reasons for challenging the results, specifically the legal department's involvement with the elections.
The group also stated, "the implementation of a 'Special Election' disenfranchised voters and candidates" and "voters and candidates were disenfranchised in the absentee, walk-in and election day process due to numerous improprieties and discrepancies during the election process," as reasons to challenge the results.
According to the group, there were also several violations of the election code.
The election board is considering the challenges and will issue a ruling by the close of business Friday.
