ATMORE - Mr. John A. Wilson, 99, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 in Atmore.
John was a native of Evergreen and a resident of Atmore since 1941. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge 779 of Huxford, a retired Correctional Officer for Fountain Prison and attended the Presley Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include, his wife, Gladys Wilson of Atmore; his son, John Edward and Ruth Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; stepson, Melvin and Louvinie Johnson of Ozark; his daughter, Peggy and Jimmy Myrcik of Atmore; stepdaughter, Brenda and Kenneth Tomas of Atmore; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and his sister, Wilner Johnston of Evergreen.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Gilley officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the funeral home chapel. Pallbearers were, Melvin Johnson, Kenneth Tomas, Don Slater, Jim Pearson, Jimmy Myrick and Cecil Ellis.
