The emptier than usual lot at Chuck Stevens Chevrolet is not due to the business closing, but is a consciously cautious business move according to General Manager Chad Bartz.
Bartz said the dealership has received many inquiries lately as to why their car lot has not been as full as usual and if it were closing.
Bartz said when General Motors Corporation sent out letters in May to notify businesses they needed to close Chuck Stevens did not receive such a letter, but there was still much uncertainty in the overall car dealership business.
Bartz said some concern came from the way Chrysler Corporation’s bankruptcy was handled.
This, Bartz said, is what led to the lot not being filled up.
Bartz said the good news is that another round of letters, called “wind down letters” has been sent out by General Motors since declaring bankruptcy and again Chuck Stevens did not receive one, but did receive another kind of letter.
Bartz said on Thursday that after receiving the letter the dealership has already begun restocking its lot.
