JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Mr. Eddie Lee Curry, 62, of Jersey City, N.J., formerly of Atmore, transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Hamilton Park Hospital in Jersey City.
He was retired and a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in Jersey City.
His parents, Woodrow and Rose Mare Curry; four sisters, Irene Coleman, Ethel Mae Bowens, Mary Crenshaw-Evans and Josephine Lewis and one great grandchild preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Barbara J. Curry of Jersey City, N.J.; four daughters, JoAnne Curry, Crystal (Andrew) Hartzog and Lisa Glover, all of Jersey City, N.J. and Doris Thomas of Carteret, N.J.; two sons, Edward L. Curry and Douglas Jones, both of Jersey City, N.J.; four sisters, Rosa (Elmore) Williams, Elizabeth (Jimmy) McPherson and Savannah Curry, all of Atmore and Louise (Bishop Andrew) Hawthorne of Nashville, Ark.; five brothers, Willie (Mary) Curry, Samuel (Claudia) Curry, Aaron (Marjorie) Curry, Woodrow (Betty) Curry Jr. and Melvin (Clara) Curry, all of Atmore; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Lighthouse Apostolic Holiness Church in Atmore with Bishop Andrew Hawthorne officiating and Bishop Robert Grissett as host pastor. Retirement of his remains was in Mt. Shiloh cemetery in Nokomis. Public viewing was held from 3 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the funeral home and his body lied instate at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
