The Jaws of Life were brought to the scene of a one-vehicle accident at the 14.5 mile marker on Hwy. 21 Thursday morning.
The driver, Penny Black of Monroeville, was traveling south on Hwy. 21 in her 1994 Saturn Twin Cam when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and ran into a power pole at approximately 8:50 a.m., according to the Alabama Highway Patrol Evergreen offices.
At the scene, the top of the vehicle was then cut away to extract Black from the vehicle.
She was then taken by LifeFlight to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. Sacred Heart Hospital confirmed Friday she had been discharged.
Huxford Volunteer Fire Department, Atmore Ambulance, Alabama Highway Patrol, Poarch Fire Department, Alabama Power Company and Poarch Police Department responded to the scene.
