ATMORE - Lillie Mae Mitchell was born on Nov. 15, 1924 to the late Theodore and Pattie Williams.
Sister Mitchell was a member St. Matthews Missionary Church for over 50 years where she served as the Choir President of the Missionary Board. She was also a member of Eastern Star of Atmore. She retired from Dentalez in Bay Minette.
She departed this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Atmore Nursing Care Center.
Her husband, Henry Mitchell and her son, Willie Mitchell preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories six daughter, Mary Bazzi, Bertha (Clarence) Williams, Ida (Cleveland) Mitchell, Janice Nye, Sheila (Russell) Sargent and Jo Ann (Robert) Bishop; two sons, Charlie Benjamin and John (Linda) Benjamin; one adopted son, Demetrius Benjamin; five step daughters, Johnnie Mae (John) Munnerlyn, Annie Davis, Annie (Earnest) Williams, Margie (Walter) Earvin and Betty Starling; four step sons, Robert (Beverly) Benjamin, Jake (Mary) Mitchell, Cleveland (Ida) Mitchell and Willie Mitchell; two brothers, Major (Daisy) Tunstall and John (Deanna) Tunstall; one uncle, Frank Clemmons, two sisters-in-laws, Lula Williams and Marsha Tunstall; 32 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 1, 2009 at St. Matthews Methodist Church in Tensaw with the Rev. Worsham officiating. Interment will take place in Tensaw Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and flower bearers will be her granddaughters
