A change in owners has led to a change in names at Monterrey’s Mexican Restaurant located at 1520 S. Main St., which has now become El Rio Grande.
At the beginning of the month Fernando Macias, a five-year employee at Chuck Stevens Chevrolet, purchased the restaurant from its former owner Angel Savala, and he changed everything from the name to the menu selections.
Macias said the business was sold due to low visitation.
With the economy in shambles, Macias is making El Rio Grande for affordable to customers.
He said he believes his values are worth making the trip to the restaurant to eat.
With a new menu, Macias also decided to revamp the staff for his new business venture.
He said the other main change was who was going to be cooking the food.
Aside from new prices and a new chef, Macias wants customers to know about the restaurant’s environment.
He said his restaurant is going to have great service every day with great food also.
