Two visitors greeted employees at the Atmore branch of Express Check Advance when they opened the office on Tuesday.
Branch manager, Stephanie Cooper, said two snakes were in the office storage room when she began turning on lights for the business located on Lindberg Avenue.
Cooper said she suspected the snakes were rattlers, but that was not confirmed by any of the Atmore Police Department officers who responded to the call.
Cooper said she and co-worker, Donnie Rambo, left the office when they spotted the visitors.
When officers arrived, the smaller snake was killed and a search began for the larger one.
Also responding to the call was Escambia County Sheriffs investigator, Leon Kizer.
Kizer said he could catch snakes all day long, as long as they are not poisonous.
Officers did a quick search of the room moving boxes and other items, but they were unable to locate the large snake the employees saw.
Animal control was called to assist in the search.
