Investigators with the Atmore Police Department continue to piece together the incidents leading up to the early morning murder of 51-year-old Michael Lee Dailey.
According to Atmore Public Safety Director Glenn Carlee, no arrests have been made in the case as of Tuesday afternoon.
Dailey was found lying face down just before 4 p.m. on Sept. 13 in the bedroom of his one-bedroom apartment located at 74 Martin Luther King Ave. in the Bragg Street Apartment Complex.
In a statement last week, Carlee said there were no signs of forced entry and said he believes that Dailey, who lived in the apartment alone, knew his assailant and allowed the suspect entry into the residence.
No other details about the department’s investigation have been released in fear it could jeopardize the case. The murder weapon has also not been released, but Carlee said last week that it is believed that the assailant left the weapon at the scene of the homicide.
Dailey was last seen alive by neighbors at his residence at around 7 p.m. on Sept. 11, Carlee said.
If you have information about the case, you are asked to contact the Atmore Police Department or the Alabama Bureau of Investigation at 368-9141 or 251-578-1315.
