Coming off of the emotion of a huge homecoming victory, the Northview Chiefs went back to work Monday to insure that they did not suffer a setback after securing their second straight victory.
Last week, the Chiefs (3-1, 2-1) routed the Baker Gators 34-14 with a dominating running game that racked up 209 yards.
This week Northview travels to Holmes County looking to gain ground in their district race, which a win over the Blue Devils could do.
Chiefs head coach Sid Wheatley said coming into this week of practices, his team is just making sure they continue to be as efficient as possible.
To prepare the Chief defense for the Blue Devil offense, players were shown what Holmes County lines up in on offense.
Wheatley said he wants his team to see as many looks as possible when it comes to their opponents offense. He added that a key to stopping Holmes County is their quarterback.
Film studies of the Blue Devils have shown Wheatley some things he thinks his team will be able to be successful at in order to play competitive.
Offensively, the Chiefs will again look to control the game with their running ability.
Wheatley said controlling the line is important if the Chiefs want to be successful on offense. He added that long drives will always help the defense.
Earlier in the season, injuries were a problem for the Chiefs, but now most players are back and ready to play.
Wheatley said he is keeping his fingers crossed that everyone stays injury free.
The Chiefs and the Blue Devils kick off Friday night at Holmes County High School in Bonifay, Fla. at 7:30 p.m.
