Working hard on and off the football field is one of the reasons Escambia County Blue Devil Devante Brown was recognized as a scholar athlete by WEAR last week.
Brown, a senior at ECHS, is a starter for the Blue Devils’s football and baseball teams, who excels beyond the fields of play.
Brown said being recognized by WEAR was quite an accomplishment.
In order to maintain his grade-point average, the two-star athlete is constantly focusing on his school work before his extracurricular activities.
Brown said making sure his work is done first is always his to priority.
His ability to focus and study for his classes has poured over onto his ability to make plays on the football field.
Brown said he sees a correlation between doing his homework and his work in practice for the Blue Devils.
Brown also has big plans in store for his future.
He said he plans to attend a university in the state and also pursue a chance to be in the U.S. military.
Until his time at ECHS is up, Brown will continue to excel at things he does best, school and Blue Devil athletics.
