After enjoying the weekend, and coming off a huge senior night victory, the Northview Chiefs are back at practice preparing for Friday’s game against the Vernon Yellow Jackets in Vernon, Fla.
The Chiefs (6-2, 5-2) used the strength of their defense and the clock management of their running game to pick up a 10-7 win last week over the Sneads Pirates.
This week, the Chiefs will try to pound the ball out on the ground again, while putting more points on the board.
Chiefs Head Coach Sid Wheatley said his offense has gone to practice this week looking to work on correcting mistakes.
To prepare his defense for a speedy Vernon offense, Wheatly said he will give his defense several looks as the Yellow Jackets’s formations.
He said the key to stopping Vernon is to stop the quickness of their team.
The Chiefs will be put through some tough practices to insure they are prepared, according to Wheatley.
The Chiefs and Yellow Jackets kick off Friday night at 7 p.m. in Vernon, Fla.
