There will be some high-flying action and clowning around this weekend in Atmore.
The Lewis &Clark Circus made its way into town late Friday night in preparation for its performances at the Atmore Area YMCA today at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
The old-fashion big top circus made its way into Atmore in 2007 featuring jugglers, trapeze artists, amazing acrobats, zany clowns and a tiger. Graham said the event was such a success the first time that the YMCA decided to make it a bi-annual event.
The Lewis &Clark Circus, a one-ring European style circus, also features pony and camel rides, a petting zoo with various animals, facepainting, inflatable rides, concession foods, games and much more.
The circus tent is approximately 90 feet by 60 feet and can accommodate nearly 900 patrons.
According to Graham, two years ago, the YMCA raised approximately $1,500 from the circus.
Adult tickets are $15 at the gate and $5 for children.
