The City of Atmore will begin maintaining Carpet Drive that runs in front of Masland Carpets &Rugs following a vote at Monday afternoon’s city council meeting.
The council unanimously approved “restoring the city’s ownership” of the road, which was abandoned several years ago when Masland planned an expansion of its facility across the road into an open field. According to Mayor Howard Shell, those plans are no longer in the making, so the city has taken back over maintenance of the road.
In doing so, the city will once again begin providing the maintenance and upkeep of Carpet Drive.
