Well December has quickly arrived upon us and with it comes the excitement of college football bowl games.
Bowl games are always exciting to watch because teams play with more of a winner take all attitude becuase what it means for their program.
Most programs use the bowls as a way to boost their recruiting and a win usually helps a team get a few extra players here and there.
The GMAC Bowl in Mobile will be more interesting than it has been in the last few years.
The Troy Trojans got the nod to visit Mobile this year, and will take on the Central Michigan Chippewas.
This game should be exciting because each team boasts high-powered offenses with the Chippewas bringing in possibly the best quarterback in the nation with Dan LeFevour.
In the MAC Championship, LeFevour set the NCAA career mark for touchdowns. He has thrown for 101 TDs and run for another 46.
On the other side, Troy is led by Levi Brown. Brown has helped the Trojans to a 9-3 record going 8-0 in the Sunbelt.
Both teams like to score points, so whoever plays defense will have the edge. I give it to the Trojans because head coach Larry Blakeney always has a decent defense.
The Tigers just up the road from Troy in Auburn get to visit Tampa on New Year’s Day in the Outback Bowl.
They are faced with a Northwestern Wildcats program that has not won a bowl game since 1948.
Auburn’s offense should be able to capitalize on the Wildcats because of the speed that the SEC is known to have.
My Alabama Crimson Tide have climbed back to the top and earned the right to play the Texas Longhorns in the BCS title game.
This game will be one heck of a contest between two programs built on tradition.
The Tide is always close to my heart, so of course I’m going with them. No prediction on the score though.
First things first though, Crimson Tide sophomore running back Mark Ingram will be in New York City this weekend for the Heisman Trophy presentation.
This will be a close vote, but Ingram will edge out Stanford stud Toby Gerhart for the prestigous award.
