A former Escambia County High School student gets the chance of a lifetime on March 10 when he will perform on “Showtime at the Apollo” in New York City.
Mykal Thomas, a member of the ECHS Class of 2008, received the chance to perform after making it through a preliminary audition.
Thomas said that he has been singing since his childhood and decided to go on some auditions, which led him to the “Showtime at the Apollo.”
On his audition, Thomas made an impression on the judges for the famous show.
Thomas said the first judge that spoke to him stated that the Atmore native needed to go to New York.
Now that Thomas has made it through to the big performance, he is looking for help from the community.
Thomas said he is working, but also hoping to find sponsors that could help him afford the trip.
When he finally gets the chance to perform, Thomas said he is ready for his opportunity.
Any businesses that would like to sponsor Thomas may contact him at 850-619-7920 or his mother Debra Thomas at 251-382-2608.
