Lady Cougars whip Marengo Aca.

The Lady Cougars of Canoe picked up their 16th win of the season as they beat the Marengo Academy Lady Longhorns 50-38 Tuesday night in Linden.
The Lady Cougars (16-5, 7-3) fought a back-and-forth battle with the Lady Longhorns, but pulled away towards the end of the game.
In the first quarter, the Lady Cougars jumped ahead of Marengo as they outscored the home team 14-9.
The Lady Longhorns flipped things around in the second period as they grabbed the lead after outscoring the Lady Cougars 16-10.
Following halftime, the Lady Cougars took the lead and never looked back.
Neither team had much offense in the third period as the Lady Cougars pulled ahead outscoring the Lady Longhorns 7-5.
In the final quarter, the Lady Cougars hit their shots as they outscored the Lady Longhorns 19-8 to leave Linden with a 12-point win.
Lady Cougars Head Coach Heath Gibson said his team still has things to work on before the playoffs.
Lady Cougars junior forward Amber Huskey led the team with 16 points. Huskey also pulled down seven rebounds, stole four passes and dished out an assist.
Junior forward Taylor Helton added 10 points for the Lady Cougars, while recording eight rebounds, three steals, two asists and a block.
Lady Cougars eighth grade guard Grayson Emmons scored seven points in the win with three assists, two steals and two rebounds.
EA senior center Jordan Jaye and senior guard Kay Leigh Miller each scored six points. Jaye recorded seven rebounds, three blocks and one steal, while Miller had three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Junior guard Rachel Fuller added five points with two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The Escambia Academy Lady Cougars junior varsity lost a close game to the Marengo Academy Lady Longhorns 29-23 Tuesday in Linden.
The Lady Cougars played a tight game with the Lady Longhorns keeping within one point at halftime and tied at 21 at the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Longhorns pulled away with eight points in the final quarter.
Eighth grade guard Grayson Emmons led the Lady Cougars with 10 points. She also had four assists, three steals and three rebounds.
