After being canceled on Feb.12 due to frigid temperatures, the Northview Chiefs were finally able to play host to the Freeport Lady Tigers Thursday at Northview High School in Bratt, Fla.
The Lady Chiefs proved the wait was worth it to their fans as they picked up their fourth win of the season by demolishing the Lady Tigers 14-0.
Northview (4-0, 2-0) picked apart the Lady Tigers from start to finish as pitcher Misty Doran was able to get Northview out of the first inning easily with the help of Northview’s defense.
With their first at-bat, head coach Sammy Day’s Lady Chiefs quickly went through their order as they hit pitch after pitch. The hits, along with three errors by the Lady Tigers defense, allowed Northview to jump on top 7-0.
In the second inning, the Lady Tigers came to bat, but Doran and the Lady Chiefs defense quickly sent them back to the dugout.
With their own at-bat, the Lady Chiefs added two more runs to extend their lead to nine.
Through the remainder of the game, the Lady Chiefs offense and defense continued to manhandle the Lady Tigers as they went on to rout the visitors by 14.
