A few games past the mid-way point of the 2010 season, the Northview Chiefs find themselves 11-4 overall and leading their district with a 5-0 record.
The Chiefs have used pitching and defense to help come away with success in their 11 wins this season.
With 10 games left, the Chiefs coached by Sid Wheatley are hoping to hold their district lead and push their way through the district tournament into the playoffs.
Wheatley said he has seen the strength of his team from the beginning of the season from one spot.
With pitching help get the Chiefs to where they are, they have also been solid offensively.
Despite several games with more than five runs scored, the Chiefs’ hitting is still getting a lot of work.
Wheatley said his team’s hitting has been coming around, but needs to be stronger.
Another area of concern for the Chiefs has nothing to do with the physical aspect of playing baseball.
Wheatley said his team needs to gain a little more mental strength as they playout their remaining games.
The Chiefs next game is Tuesday at 6 p.m. at home against Freeport.
