ATMORE – Ezell Williams Sr. was born on June 12, 1926 in Loxley to the proud parents of Mr. John and Rebecca Williams. Ezell and parents later transitioned to the small town of Atmore to a small community affectionately known as “Rays Quarters.” Being reared in Atmore, Ezell was a proud graduate of Escambia County Training School.
Master Sgt. Ezell Williams went to sleep in Christ on Thursday morning March 25, 2010 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital of Columbus, Ohio.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories four devoted children, two sons, Ezell Williams Jr. and Don Anthony (Bonita) Williams, both of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Janice Williams of Philadelphia, Pa. and Sherrie Williams of Savannah, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a loving and devoted brother, Bishop Willie L. Williams, founder and Pastor of Jones Street T.P.H.C. of Atmore; an adopted sister, Francis Dailey of Atmore; a devoted sister-in-law, Patricia Williams of Atmore and brother-in-law, Amstar Williams of Mobile; three devoted nieces, Carla Williams, Jessica Lockett and Bertha Cobs of Atmore; a devoted adopted nephew, Bernard Bryant of Atmore; a great cousin and friend, Walter Lee McCracken of Atmore and devoted friend, Carl Martin of Atmore. Families of special recognition to remember are, the Betts and Walker families, a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. from Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church with full military honors and Elder Leroy Knight officiating and Elder Mona Simmons presiding.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 from the Chapel of Mayberry Funeral Home.
Mayberry Funeral Homes of Atmore will be in charge of services.
