For Escambia County Blue Devil Marshall Rolin, baseball is not just a game that he plays, it’s a sport that means everything to him, one that he will do anything to be successful in.
Rolin, a junior shortstop and pitcher for the Blue Devils, is a player who cannot be missed when he’s on the field.
He is the ultimate team player that will give his all to help his team win.
Rolin said when he takes the field all he is thinking about is getting a victory.
Making plays is something that Rolin has come to look easy whether he’s playing defense, at bat or on the basepath.
In the Blue Devils’ game against Excel on Monday, he scored three runs, stole four bases, made a running catch in the outfield and even pitched.
In a steal to third, Rolin made a play that most players would have been out on.
When the third baseman received the throw from the Excel catcher and turned to tag, Rolin slid around the tag to get the steal.
That steal plus another steal in the bottom of the seventh allowed Rolin to help his team earn the victory.
Rolin said on the steal he knew he would have to do something to make sure he got on base.
With Rolin only a junior, he still has room to grow and develop his talent.
He hopes to continue his baseball career after high school.
Rolin said he is always working to make sure he can play in college and maybe beyond that.
For Rolin, he might just be a few steals away from the career he dreams of.
