An 18-month-old child died Monday as a result of injuries sustained in a Saturday evening accident in the Freemanville community near Atmore.
Kemonte Williams died at USA Medical Center in Mobile according to Escambia County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mike Lambert.
Lambert said officers with the Atmore Police Department reported the incident to the department at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
Lambert said the accident occurred at 1897 Freemanville Rd. when a vehicle ran over the child.
Lambert said the mother of the victim grabbed the child and went with the driver of the vehicle to Atmore Community Hospital.
Lambert said injuries sustained in the accident warranted that the victim be taken to USA Hospital in Mobile.
Lambert said the case remains under review, however, no charges have been filed in the incident.
