Gladys Broughton Gwin

MONROEVILLE – Gladys Broughton Gwin, 86, a native of Monroeville, born Dec. 2, 1923, passed away on Sept. 7, 2010 in Atmore.
Mrs. Gwin was retired from Monsanto Textiles. Her husband of 66 years, Roy Chastain Gwin; her mother, Mamie B. O’Gwynn and her father, Eddie Lee Broughton, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sister, Jettie L. Everette and husband, Gordon, of Atmore; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Louise Gwin of Mobile; nieces, Susan E. Fischer (Gene) of Bentonville, Ark. and Melanie E. Whitaker (Ken) of Acworth, Ga.; nephew, Gene Everette (Dawn) of Fairhope and other nieces and nephews by marriage.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Brown, the Rev. Mike Grindle and the Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Gene Everette, Gene Fischer, Ken Whitaker, Tommy Gwin, Bobby Ray Gwin and Mike Gwin. Honorary pallbearers will be Giles Chapman, Trigger Lee Brent Whitaker, Eubie Trawick, Hooper Matthews and Harold Williams.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday evening, Sept. 10, 2010 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
