CANOE – Christine Lowery, a native of Monroe County and longtime resident of Canoe, passed away on Sept. 10, 2010 at the age of 90. She was born Feb. 9, 1920.

Her husbands, James Thomas Reeves and Ralph C. Lowery; a son, Willie James Reeves and 12 brothers and sisters, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Hazel Johnson and husband, Ed, of Demopolis; three sons, Bernard Reeves and wife, Rita, of Magnolia Springs; Ray C. Lowery and wife, Freida, of Canoe and Roy C. Lowery and wife, Ann, of Bratt, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jody Baker of Demopolis, Debbie Fitzhugh of Demopolis, Craig Lowery of Bratt, Fla. and Amanda Brown of Saraland and six great grandchildren, Christiana Baker of Demopolis, Jonathan and David Fitzhugh of Demopolis, Colton Lowery of Bratt, Fla. and Shelby and Mallory Brown of Saraland.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bother John Stacey officiating. Interment followed at Canoe Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday, Sept. 12.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
