“I want to thank everyone for coming out today,” Peacock said. “Escambia County’s Republican party is really gaining a strong presence throughout the county.”

This is the second headquarters that has opened in the county with the first opening in Brewton.

Peacock said that this is the first time there has been headquarters in more than 20 years.

“This is actually the second of two headquarters in Escambia County,” he said. “We are excited about this because this is the first time since 1988 that the party has had headquarters, and now we have two.”

Ivey was given the floor following Peacock, so she could speak to the crowd gathered.

The candidate for lieutenant governor said that putting an agenda for the state is an important issue.

“We must put in place an agenda that carries the State of Alabama,” Ivey said. “First, we must protect our families, small businesses and agri-businesses from taxes. Second, high-quality, stable jobs must be created for people to have steady employment, and finally we must corral irresponsible government spending. Using stimulus money to prop up campaign promises must be stopped.”

Ivey’s presence at the opening of the headquarters is something that Peacock thinks shows her feelings about the county.

He said he thinks she has done a great job when dealing with Escambia County.

“Kay is a good friend to Escambia County,” Peacock said. “She has always done good things for it. In less than two months, we’ll hopefully have her knock the Democrats out of the lieutenant governor’s office.”

Heath Jackson, the Republican candidate for Escambia County Sheriff, did not speak to the crowd, but made sure to talk to everyone present.

Jackson said he is excited to see how much support the candidates for the GOP are getting.

“It’s overwhelming how supportive people are of all the candidates on the Republican ticket,” Jackson said. “I’m excited to be running on it, and I can’t wait to make Escambia County proud.”
