Two people were seriously injured Monday afternoon when the Nissan Frontier they were traveling in on Hwy. 31 lost control and flipped several times before coming to a stop on the side of the road.

The accident, which occurred around 12:20 p.m., happened just east of Smith Tractor on Hwy. 31 and only involved the one vehicle.

According to Emmanuel Banks, of Atmore, he had just left a local business and was traveling east when he saw the accident happen.

“I has just left David’s Paint & Body going towards Atmore,” Banks said. “They were in my lane and then accelerated back into their lane and ran off the road, hit the ditch and the truck started flipping. It flipped one time and then hit the tailgate and flipped again and I saw the girl’s body fly out of the truck. I could hear the girl screaming that she couldn’t feel her legs, so I went back to David’s and told David (Gibbs) about the accident. When I got back, I could still hear the girl saying she couldn’t feel her legs and she was bleeding badly and some one came and wrapped a T-shirt around her head to stop the bleeding.”
