Friday night football action

Friday is here and there are several marquee games going on tonight in Atmore, Canoe and all the way in Freeport, Fla.

The Escambia County Blue Devils (5-2, 3-2) are hosting the No. 1-ranked Jackson Aggies in a region battle that could help the Blue Devils in the final region standings with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Blue Devils head coach Mark Heaton said he will continue to push his team to be better in order for them to be prepared for the postseason.

“We are not going to take any pressure off of ourselves,” Heaton said. “We are going to continue and try to get stronger, so we can peak when we get to the playoffs.”

In Canoe, Escambia Academy hosts the Wilcox Academy Wildcats for their homecoming game with the homecoming queen and court being announced at halftime of the contest. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.

Northview hits the road for an important district game against the defending district champions the Freeport Bulldogs at 7 p.m.

If the Chiefs are able to pull off the victory it will be much-needed step towards making the playoffs and claiming their district title.
