Lady Eagles defeat Foley

Escambia County Middle School’s Lady Eagles continued to show dominance against their opponents from Baldwin County this time defeating the Foley Lady Lions 23-10 in Foley on Thursday night.

The Lady Eagles improved to 6-1 on the season as they pushed past another opponent.

Leading the Lady Eagles to their victory was Nicole Johnson who finished the game with nine points, eight rebounds and three steals.

In the first quarter, the Lady Lions used the homecourt to their advantage as they crept out to a 4-3 lead.

Their lead would only last one quarter though as they Lady Eagles battled back in the second period as they outscored Foley 6-2 and took the lead into halftime ahead 9-6.

Following halftime, the Lady Eagles held their lead and eventually put their foot on the gas to pull away.

In the third quarter, both teams struggled to get shots to drop, but ECMS was able to again win the quarter this time outscoring Foley 3-2.

Leading 12-8 as the fourth quarter began, the Lady Eagles found their shot and dropped 11 points on the Lady Lions and held them to two points as they picked up the win 23-10.

Lady Eagle Ashleigh Simpkins finished the game with seven points and two rebounds, while Laticia Barron ended the win with five points, four rebounds and two steals.

Ychelle Walker rounded out the scoring with two points. She also recorded six steals and one rebound.

Eagles 40

Escambia County’s eighth grade boys dropped their second straight game this time falling 43-40 to the Foley Eagles.

The Eagles (4-3) put up a valiant effort in the fourth quarter, but were down by too much as they Lions were able to pick up the win.

Eagles Jerome Webster and David Johnson led ECMS with 11 points each. Johnson posted a double-double as he recorded 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Webster finished with seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.
